AIFUCTO DEMANDS CBI ENQUIRY

IN   PROF. SABHARWAL MURDER CASE

Prof. Thomas Joseph, President and Prof. Asok Barman, General Secretary, All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organizations termed the acquittal of all six accused in the case of murder of Prof. H.S. Sabharwal at Ujjain on the campus of Madhav College in Madhya Pradesh by a Nagpur court as most unfortunate. They noted that the trial was transferred to the court outside the state where the heinous crime was committed as it was feared that the ends of justice would not be met by trying the case in Madhya Pradesh where the ruling party’s commitment to the accused was widely known.  While the court was convinced of the factum of assault on the professor on the campus of Madhav College leading to his death, it said that the prosecution had “miserably failed”   to prove the case against the accused. The Government of  Madhya Pradesh should find itself in the dock after the scathing remarks of the court about the failure  of the prosecution to prove the charges against the accused.

While extending sympathy and support to the beleaguered family of late Prof. Sabharwal in its fight for justice, AIFUCTO appeals to the Union Government to have the case reinvestigated by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) so that the culprits are brought to book and a stern message given to criminal gangs which vandalize the peace and tranquility of the hallowed precincts of educational institutions.
